The Hugelkultur is an Austrian growing technique which you create mounds of soil around large logs and compost, which is then seeded with the plants you want to grow, and straw. As the wood and compost is decomposed, they release nutrients to the plants, which are productive for years. At the end of it all, you can dig up the hugelbed for an amazing compost.
